Cycle Lyme Park

lyme park cycle route ste waste 1

Throughout the covid-19 lockdown, Managing Director of STE Waste Management Marcus Farmer, has been keeping fit by doing a 15 mile bike ride around Lyme Park (AKA The Lyme Loop).

Our main aim now is to encourage fitness within the community and to get more people supporting our chosen charity, The National Trust, by joining and having a sociable coffee.

As we are all now returning to some form of “normality”, we think it is acceptable to encourage members of our community to start venturing out and try to set their own time, as well as trying to build up a cycling community operating  from the park. If you park up before the ride in the main car park you can use the beautiful ride to the front gate starting point as a warmup and the ride back as a warm down. Enjoying some of Cheshire’s finest scenery and a warming coffee afterwards at Lyme Parks Café, The Timber Yard, we believe that this cycle route could be the start of encouraging more people to cycle in the area.

Marcus has a best time for the route at approximately 1 hour 12 minutes. However, there is no time limit and no one will finish last, as our aim is to appeal to competitive and non-competitive people alike. It is a tough ride climbing the side of the Rams head Pub and then turning right to Kettleshulme heading towards the brickworks and a well-earned descent. At the bottom of the brickworks you again turn right and head towards higher Poynton, looping Lyme Park and finishing up at the Norbury crossing with another right turn back up to the entrance and starting point.

Working alongside The Lyme Park parkrun (https://www.parkrun.org.uk/lymepark) we think that this could be an ideal triathlon training route on  Saturday morning starting at 7.30 and joining the run at 9am.

(Cyclists ride at their own risk at all times as this is just a route and not a club).
